‘Discover Coorg Video’, the first full-fledged DVD on Coorg, has been launched. The DVD features tourist spots, homestays, Coorg jewellery, Kodava family hockey festival, facilities for golf in Coorg, and the unique culture of Coorg, including traditional Kodava folk dances and Kodava wedding.
The DVD has been brought out by senior journalist P.T. Bopanna, author of five books on Coorg. Bopanna also runs five Coorg-centric websites.
Speaking on the DVD, Bopanna, who has more than three decades of experience as a journalist, including 12 years with The Times of India, Bangalore, said: “After I came out with my first book ‘Discover Coorg’, a travel book on Coorg in 2006, there were enquires for a video on Coorg. Since most of the visitors to Coorg, especially during the week-ends, are from the IT sector, I felt there would be a ready market for a DVD.”
Pattamada Sundar Muthanna, a noted writer, has written the script for the video. The voice-over has been done by Mohan Ram. The videos were shot by B.K. Vasanth Kumar. The duration of the DVD is around 35 minutes.
Krupakar-Senani, wildlife photographers, provided the footage from their painstakingly shot video of Nagarahole/Rajiv Gandhi National Park.
The project has been supported by the Pemanda Monappa Foundation promoted by retired IAS officer of Tamil Nadu Mr P.M. Belliappa.
The DVD priced at Rs 100 is available in some of the leading book stores in Bengaluru and major stores in Coorg.
