I thought it was time to answer all those prudes who keep whining all the time.
During my college days, I used to admire R.K. Karanjia, founder of Blitz weekly newspaper. He was a serious investigative journalist and was famous for interviewing world leaders like Fidel Castro of Cuba.
One of the popular pages of Blitz was the last page which carried the picture of a pin-up model. Karanjia must have felt that there should be some lighter stuff for the readers of his serious articles.
The American Playboy magazine founded by Hugh Hefner which was otherwise famous for its nude centerfolds, also carried serious articles and interviews.
Closer home, we had the late Kushwant Singh, who mainstreamed sex jokes in his columns.
I also believe that along with serious news, a bit of light stuff is good for the readers.
