WHAT IS COMMON BETWEEN RASHMIKA’S SLEEVELESS BLOUSE AND A VANISHING KODAVA DISH?

By P.T. Bopanna

There is plenty common between actress Rashmika Mandanna’s sleeveless blouse worn with a Kodava sari, and a vanishing Kodava dish. These are part of the dozens of articles featured in the blogs section of the recently re-launched website coorgtourisminfo.com.

There is much more. For instance, what is it like having lunch with India’s top spy at Bengaluru’s iconic Koshy’s restaurant? Or what does a paper published in an American science journal has got to say about the origin of the Kodavas?

There are blogs on Kodava recipes, Coorg homestays, about Kodava community and also write-ups on travel experiences visiting important tourist places.

There is a write up on trek to Tadiyandamol, Coorg’s tallest peak. The blogger explains: “The views were simply spectacular. To my right was the Kerala border and in the distance I could see the ocean off the Malabar coast. All around me were lines of mountain ridges in the distance. A pair of Painted Bush Quails were calling from somewhere on the hillside below me and I was able to find and watch them using my binoculars. It was still a little early for raptors like the Black eagle and the Rufous-bellied eagles so I sat and enjoyed the great views for a while longer.”

Aishwarya Belliappa, writes about the amazing sunset at Mandalpatti, one of the most scenic spots in Coorg. She wrote: “Going there, by no means was a great feat to talk about and the walk up could be achieved in little more than an hour’s time. What fascinated most of us was the drive to get there. The uneven roads and the steep climbs ensured that nothing but a vehicle with 4X4 drive was used. As the vehicle was driven higher we jolted along at the back, often giggling as our heads touched the roof. We would crane our necks to look at the hills and the valleys when they were pointed out to us.”
