Kodagu received the much-awaited ‘blossom shower’ on Sunday, cheering the coffee planters of a bountiful coffee crop in the next season.
Most parts of Kodagu, including Madikeri, Suntikopppa, Virajpet, Napoklu, Bhagamandala, Gonikoppal, Kushalanagar, Somwarpet and Shantivarasanthe, received copious rains.
Blossom shower, the first showers of the season, is critical for a good coffee crop and looked upon eagerly by the planters.
Meanwhile, Kiraganduru gram panchayat in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district recorded maximum rainfall in the state measuring 111.5mm in the last 24-hours.
According to reports, the Sunday showers damaged the coffee blossom in a few areas in Kodagu where the planters had irrigated their estates, not taking chances with the rains.
So good to read about Coorg. My mother’s home. Settled in Gwalior it’s good to hear about pretty things like blossom showers.
